Marvel Comics - This doesn't have a name, so that's its name

  • Iron Fist goes through multiple floors

Brock Rumlow = 193.04 cm

91.06 px = 193.04 cm

193.04 m / 91.06 px = 2.119920931 cm/px

92 px * 2.119920931 m/px = 195.0327257 cm

37 px * 2.119920931 m/px = 78.43707446 cm

I will assume the 37 px line is equal to the missing width, since I can also not calculate it here. Rectangular prism again.

V = 195.0327257 cm * 78.43707446 cm * 78.43707446 cm = 1199914.397 cc

Same as with Kingpin.

E = 1199914.397 cc * 8 j/cc = 9599315.176 J

9599315.176 J - 9599.315176 KJ - Wall Level

E = 1199914.397 cc * 69 j/cc = 82794093.42 J

82794093.42 J - 0.019788263245698 tons of TNT - Small Building

Still, this feat is doubious, so we shouldn't use it as principal calc to scale

Deadpool: Merc with the Durability

Going to share a bunch of good feats from Deadpool that will help in the near future with the scaling for the Marvel Comics "Street Tier" characters.

Possibly Deadpool's best feat. The villains launch a small nuclear missile into Wade's location, exploding right onto his face and creating a significant explosion. He is still mostly fine afterwards.

"Well, but isn't Deadpool supposed to have insane regeneration? How come you are sure he hasn't regenerated mid-panels."

Well, outside of the fact that the writers didn't show him regenerating already indicating that he likely didn't, as they would have depicted the event if it happened, there's also the fact that Deadpool's regeneration is slooooow.

Some Electro feats

  • 1 Captain America deflects lightning
    • 1.1 Distance

  • 2 Spider-Man Lightning-dodging Feat (again?)

Cap's head: 14 px or 22.11 cm (superheroes are drawn 8.5 heads tall and Cap is 6' 2")

Panel height: 203 px

Half of the people on this wiki go straight for degrees while the other half get radians first. Guess I'll do both.

2atan(14/(203/tan(70/2))) = 5.529351073818 degrees

But if we get radians first:

2atan(14/(203/tan(70/2))) = 0.065330508324 radians

0.065330508324*180/pi = 3.7431624004094932 degrees

Then I use the angular size calculator.

Low-end distance: 2.2893 m

High-end distance: 3.3831 m

2.2893/440000 = 5.2 microseconds, Massively Hypersonic

3.3831/440000 = 7.69 microseconds, Massively Hypersonic

Spiderman Microseconds again

Spiderman destroys a stone slab in a microsecond

Original scan

Now in order for me to calculate this I will use the wind line thing or what ever it's called (which implies Spider-Man moved his foot from there to the other side)

The average human foot is 26.3 Cm

26.3/1.6 = X/6

157.8 = 6X

157.8/6 = X

98.63 Cm

Now that we have solved half of it, I'll multiple it by two

98.63 x 2

197.266 Cm = 1.97266 Meters

1.97266 Meters/1 Microsecond

1,972,660 m/s

Mach 5797

According to Antonifer this is a impossible for human legs to do so here is Antonifer calculation, which is the correct one

2*pi*(160/360)*1.78*(23.2 +24.7 + 4.25)/100 = 2.59 m; so speed would be 2590000 m/s or Mach 7535.8

Silk Dodges a lightning bolt

Average human foot is 26.3 Cm long

Average human head is 23.9 Cm tall

767/15 Cm = X/4.2 Cm

3221.4 = 15X

214.76

767/15 Cm = X/0.7 Cm

536.9 = 15X

35.793

Angular Sizing

2atan(35.793/(214.76/tan(70/2)))

0.157609694018 Radians = 9.03037028 Degrees

Now using this and pluging in the values http://www.1728.org/angsize.htm

I get 166.52 Cm or 1.6652 Meters as my result

Now I'll assume she was one head away from Electro which is

440000 x 1.6652 Meters

732688/0.239

3065640.1673640167364017 Meters a second or Mach 9008.9

Darkseid and Highfather fly to the edge of the universe

Feat is here.

The DC universe is extremely large. The distance between Earth and Maxima's galaxy is 100 trillion light years. Furthermore, the feat takes place in a universe that is much, much bigger than said mortal universe, so 100 trillion light years is quite a lowball for the radius in my opinion.

They reached it in a single panel, so I'll use three fast times to calc it:

They started out from the center of the cosmos, as the Godworld (alternately called Asgaard or Urgrund) was directly stated to be at the center, and Apokolips/New Genesis are the split-in-half remains of the Godworld.

100 trillion light years = 9.46E29 meters

  • 1 Low-end: 1 minute
  • 2 Mid-end: 30 seconds

Rhino's feats

1. Rhino outsped a train

The train I guess is comparable to the Metroliners, some extra-fare high speed trains between Washington, D.C. and New York City which operated from 1969 to 2006, which travels at up to 125 mph (201 km/h = 55.88 m s-1).

Rhino outpaces this train = Rhino's traveling speed is at least 55.88 m s-1, Subsonic (Faster than the Eye)

2. Rhino tags Spider-Man(?)

This may be an outlier, but still...

Somehow Rhino can tag with Spidey despite how clumsy he looks like. While it may be an outlier to say Rhino has MHS+ combat and reaction speeds, he may still have reacted to a Spider-Man who actually moves at Mach 1.88.

So IMO Rhino can still have a combat/reaction speed of Mach 1.88 (at least Supersonic (tags to Spider-Man moving at M…

What I've seen a lot of other calcs (by which I mean 2) do is take the volume of the observable universe and assuming the lower half of the globe (i.e. the material universe) has that same volume.

A problem I see with this logic is that by its nature, the observable universe is a sphere. It only describes the part of the universe we can see, not its entirety.

For that reason, I feel that placing the sphere of the observable universe dire…

Goku and Pikkon Cross the Afterlife (Redone)

Based on my old calc method: I used the same basis and used the radius of the new universe:

  • Blog: 1.76x10^27m

(basically the same text)

  • 1 Goku and Pikkon Cross the Afterlife
  • 2 Distance

Now why is this amazing? Because it is established that the afterlife is easily at least the size of the Universe.

And Grand Kai's planet is above heaven in every depiction and map, meaning they crossed down to heaven, across heaven, and down to Hell.

Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man stops Bomb

Original calc here: https://forums.hero-academia.com/xfa-blog-entry/calc-requests-part-26.36253/

I found out that there are some mistakes and errors in that calc, he used fragmentation instead of pulverization (since it was a crater), and he used the California diameter only instead of the West Coast diameter.

Re-doing the calc:

Based on this comic, P.E.P.P.E.R. calculated that the bomb will turn the West Coast of the United States into a crater. That would be the sheer KE of the bomb, and Iron Man stopped it. To find the kinetic energy of the bomb, let's determine the diameter of the West Coast:

Using D/4 crater depth:

1,910.58 km / 4 = 479.645 km

By using the ellipsoid volume calculator in Google , the volume will be 7.33 * 10^9 km^3, or 7.33 …

Iron Man digs a trench half the size of Grand Canyon

  • 1 Method 1
  • 2 Method 2
    • 2.1 Update:
  • 3 Conclusion

According to this site, the Grand Canyon has a volume of 4.17 trillion meters^3. Converting it to cubic centimeters makes it 4.17*10^18 cm^3.

Half of that is: 4.17*10^18 / 2 = 2.085*10^18 cm^3

In the image shown above, the debris were small that a lot of small debris are even smaller than the repulsors itself. So let's use v. fragmentation:

2.085*10^18 cm^3 * 69 = 1.43865*10^20 joules or 34.384 gigatons of TNT (Island Level)

According to the Wikipedia, Grand Canyon is 446 km long, is 29 km wide and has a depth of 1.9 km. Multiplying them (v = l*w*h) will contribute into a volume of 24575 km^3. Converting it to cubic centimeters makes it 2.46*10^19 cm^3.

Half of that is: 2.46*10^19 / 2 = 1.23*10^19 cm^3

Red hulk jumps to space

Red hulk jumps from the earth to space the timeframe is unknown, but I'll assume 20 seconds cause Red hulk had enough time for a mini conversation with Thor before they stopped jumping up and started fighting. (they didn't really move a lot while fighting they just engaged in H2H) Then Thor gets knocked out and then we see the earth

average words per second is 150 red Hulk said a totaly of about 92 words which would be 37 seconds

14.7cm/768 = 5.4cm/X

14.7X = 4147.2

X = 282.12

Using AngelSizing Formula

2atan(tan(70/2)*(282.12/768))

I get 0.344653077722 Radians converting it to degrees I get 19.74716675 Degrees

The diamter of earth is 12742000 Meters

Now we use this Angular Size Calculator to find the distance

Odin Sends Thor to Earth

http://i.imgur.com/SdzQiW8.jpg

So, first we need to get how far away Asgard is. It is said to be "in another dimension" but this is clearly misleading, as not only is physical travel to it possible and done on multiple occassions (even in modern comics, scan from Original Sin 5.4), but dimensions are also physically connected to the main universe.

So how far is it? At the least, "endless galaxies." While this isn't an exact measurement, I'd imagine 2 galaxies away would be a pretty massive low-end for this to say the least.

Galaxy Diameter - 100,000 lightyears

Distance Between Galaxies - 6,532,000 lightyears

Fraction of a Microsecond - 0.0000005 seconds

100,000*2 = 200,000

6,532,000*2 = 13,064,000

200,000+13,064,000 = 13,264,000 lightyears

Hulk jumps redux

Recalc of this.

Planet diametre: 909 px, 12 742 000 m

The portion of Earth that is on-screen: 110 px, or 1 541 936.19 m

Panel height: 281 px

Some people on this wiki, when angsizing, go straight for degrees while others get radians first. Guess I'll do both.

2atan(110/(909/tan(70/2))) = 9.686615291124 degrees

If we get radians first...

2atan(110/(909/tan(70/2))) = 0.114549210236 radians

0.114549210236*180/pi = 6.5631862930795685 degrees

Then I use the Angular Size Calculator to get distance:

Low-end Distance: 9 098 700 m (if we go straight for degrees)

High-end Distance: 13 446 000 m (if we get radians first)

10 seconds is probably a reasonable assumption.

Marvel Comics: Hulk destroying the asteroid (recalc)

Verse: Marvel Comics

This is a recalculation of Endless Mike's attempt. His usage of the GBE formula is inaccurate, since the asteroid is a prolate spheroid as opposed to a sphere, and a sphere of similar mass and radius to it wouldn't have the same GBE, due to the fact that the center of mass would be much farther away and it would be spread out non-uniformly within the asteroid.

Let's try this with another method.

Splitting the Earth in half

Diameter of the Earth is 12 742 000 metres. Radius is 6 371 000 metres.

No feat, so I'll assume the Earth is split apart by 1 kilometre, or 1000 metres.

The centre of mass of each individual half is 3R/8 from the centre of the sphere.

U = GMm/r

M = m = mass of half of the Earth = 5.97237e+24/2 = 2.986185e+24 kg

G = Gravitational constant = 6.674×10^(−11) m^3⋅kg^(−1)⋅s^(−2)

r = Earth radius = 6 371 000 m

Earth Split Width = 1000 m

GPE of the unsplit Earth: 6.674×10^(−11)*2.986185e+24*2.986185e+24/[2*(3/8)*6371000] = 1.245520136056038e+32

Originally i was going to use the work of the force Captain would need to apply to the wing to achieve that but using Bernoulli's principle we can find the pressure on the top of the wind is less than that of the atmosphere so i'm going to find the KE of the air that hits the wind each second.

Captain says that they are going to hit the water at 700 mph (313 m/s) so i assume that's how fast the jet is going.

KE = 1/2*m*v^2 = 1/2*ρ*V*v^2

V = area of the wing part that moves*the distance the aircraft covers in 1 sec

V = 1.5*0.2*313 (i can't open the file with paint, which is what i use for scaling, so i'll use these approximated values)

V = 93.9 m^3

Density of air (15 C) is 1.225 kg/m^3

KE = 1/2*…

Captain America destroys ice giant - Marvel calc

OK, so here we have cap destroying some ice giant by throwing his shield.

Per wikipedia his shield is 0.76 meters in diameter.

First the size of the hole.

Shield diameter = pink line = 147 px = 0.76 m

hole width = green line = 261 px = 1.3493877551020449 m

hole height = red line = 416.2 px = 2.15178231292517658 m

I will consider the hole as an elipse here.

So area is π * 1.3493877551020449 * 2.15178231292517658 = 9.12189294375189807765257984723313493629854175701113 m^2

Next for the depth:

shield diameter = black line = 220 px = 0.76 m

Now for the width the perspective is no good, I will approximate it by using the thickness of his arm.

yellow line = 270 px = arm width = 0.932727272727285 m

9.12189294375189807765257984723313493629854175701113 m^2 * 0.9…

Marvel: Captain America Tanks Something

 She's actually 2.0 meters. Length of the crater is 415 pixels

415 / 40 = 10.375

2.0 * 10.375 = 20.75 Meters

The diameter of the crater is 317 pixels.

317 / 40 = 7.925

1.6 * 7.925 = 15.85 Meters

15.85 / 2 = 7.925

pi × 7.925^2 × 20.75 = 4094.17606966 m^3

Cut it in half since its a half cylinder.

4094.17606966 / 2 = 2047 m^3

2047 * 1,000,000 = 2,047,000,000 cm^3

It was either pulverized or vaporized. Gonna do both ends just in case.

2,047,000,000 * 214.35 = 438,774,450,000 J

104 Tons of TNT

2,047,000,000 * 25700 = 5.26079e+13 J

Graviton Compresses Rock

It is a free online comic, so here you can read it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xzTezujWsY

'

Based on the pixel-scaling, the rock has a radius of 0.47 km, and having a height of 0.3 km.

The volume of a cone is:

V = (π)(0.47 km)^2(0.3 km / 3)

V = 0.069 km^3 or 6.9*10^13 cm^3

Using the density of granite to find the mass:

M = DV = (2.65 g/cm^3)(6.9*10^13 cm^3)

M = 1.8285*10^14 g or 1.8285*10^11 kg

Since this was catched and lifted by four men,

M = 1.8285*10^11 kg / 4 = 4.57125*10^10 kg or 50,389,406 short tons (Class G)

Scales to Thor, Iron Man, Wonder Man and Vision.

Marvel Comics Calc: Quicksilver Is Quick

Quicksilver raises his head in a picosecond. Based on the recent blogs, it seems the requester (Peter Maximoff) already tried this and it was riddled with problems. I foresee the same happening to me since I dunno what those problems were.

In the comic it seems he raised his head from looking forward to looking towards the sky. Speaking modestly that could be done with a 20 degree angle shift, from forward to seeing the distant sky. Now I just need the size of Peter's head.

He is apparently 6'0. That's 3.3% higher than normal.

Standard head height is 23.9 cm, for both males and females. Ergo, proportionally, Quicksilver's should be 3.3% larger- 24.69 cm it is.

Turns out his head is only a bit less wide than it is tall. Cool.

Height = 28 px = …

Namor and Mar-Vell fly to space

Timeframe: The timeframe for Namor and Mar-Vell flying to space is extremely small as they were flying to space with a bomb

so I'll use 10 seconds for the timeframe

The pixel scaling for the earth and the panel

Diameter of the earth is 12,742 km

Next using the angsizing formula

2atan(tan(70/2)*(object size in pixels/screen height in pixels))

2atan(tan(70/2)*(527/887)) = 0.54881881537 Radians

0.54881881537×180°/π = 31.445001838° Degrees

Using this calculator to plug in the values

http://www.1728.org/angsize.htm

Angsizing yields 22631 km

Which is 22631000 meters a second

22631000/10

2263100 meters a second or Mach 6650.5

Marvel Comics: Black Panther's Microsecond

In Marvel Comics, Black Panther and Hawkeye are able to dodge a glider thrown at them by the Hulk in a single microsecond. How fast is this really?

-

-

-

-

-

-

To find speed we need distance and time. The panel already directly tells as the timeframe, that of 1 Microsecond. A microsecond is 1 millionth of a second, or 0.000001 seconds. Now we find distance. The distance of the dodge is 487 pixels. Black Panther himself is 429.21 pixels total. According to this profile, Black Panther is 6 feet tall, or 182.88 cm. We divide this amount by his pixel measurement to find out that each pixel is 0.426 cm. This indicates that the distance covered is 207.462 cm, or 2.075 meters. So now we can find a result.

2.075/0.000001 = 2,075,000 meters per second

Large Star level Recalulation

Noticed that there were no sources for 23 solar masses on Rigel. Wikipedia lists Rigels mass as 21  ± 3 Solar Masses. This can mean either 18 or 24 Solar Masses. Since according to Assalt, 21 is the average where plus or minus 3 is the margin of error, I will simply use 21 as the mean.

NOTE: Despite Rigel A being a giant, it is not fully convective, and thus will receive a polytrope value of 3, rather than 1.5 for the standard giant and dwarf.

The calculation performs the exact same GBE calc in my other calc (3*(6.67408×10^-11)*((1.989×10^30)*21)^2)/(((6.957×10^8)*78.9)*(5 - 3)) = 3.182e42 joules or 760.516 Tenatons.

Black Widow bomb

Picture angle is invalid for the ship and the explosions timing made the explosion size inaccurate. So this time I’ll try to scale the window to the ship’s size from a different panel and then to the explosion from a different panel containing the window, to fix the earlier problems.

Here

Purple line = 481 px (A Shield Heliocarrier is believed to be comparable to a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, which is 333 Meters. This will be a high end, since a bit of the ship was cut off)

Blue line = 7 px (4.846 Meters)

Here

Blue line = 28 px (4.846 Meters)

Black line = 278 px (48.1139 Meters, since Black Widow dropped the bomb right under herself and ran to her side to jump out the window, this would make it the radius)

Why i disagree with it:

1.Tony didn't need to stop the object (which is when we would have used the KE, even though mommentum is what needs to be opposed) just destroy it.(which is what he did)

2.Using KE just seems as an unreasonable way to get a high result.

Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures In The 8th Grade Calcs

  • 1 Introduction
  • 2 The Calculations
    • 2.1 Destroys a Wall
    • 2.2 Supergirl Flies into Outer Space
    • 2.3 Supergirl gets smacked by a Meteor

Cutesy supergirl stuff for fun and profit.

Supergirl stands at 315 pixels. She's in 8th grade, so I'll assume she's 14. The average height of a 14 year old girl is 158.7 cm. (Side note: I always feel weird about googling these things)

Gonna calculate the hole as a rectangle. It's a weird shape and really wouldn't make a huge difference either way.

The hole has a height of 157 pixels

315 / 157 = 2.00

158.7 / 2.00 = 79.35 cm

The depth of the hole is 86 pixels

315 / 86 = 3.6

158.7 / 3.6 = 44 cm

And lastly the width of the hole is 136 pixels

315 / 136 = 2.31

158.7 / 2.31 = 68.70 cm

L * W * T

79.35 * 44 * 68.70 = 239,859.18 cm^3

Gladiator Blitzes Heimdall

So the preview for the new Mighty Thor came out, and there's a particularly interesting feat in it. It can be seen in these two images. Basically, Gladiator crosses an intergalactic distance while Heimdall is blinking in order to beat him. To low-end it I'll be assuming Gladiator was already on the edge of the galaxy he was coming from.

Intergalactic Distance - 6,532,000 lightyears

Blinking Speed - 0.4 seconds

And, well, that's about all we need.

6,532,000 lightyears/0.4 seconds = 1.54e23 m/s

Galacta: Galactus' Teenage Daughter

Yes, really. This is an actual thing that happened in Marvel Comics once, and I'm really making a Respect Blog for it.

Mostly because I actually like Galacta despite her overwhelming sillyness. She is very cute. And she doesn't deserve having such a crap profile like the one she has now, so its time to fix it.

Before we begin, something needs to be clarified: Galacta only has two sources for feats, first the most straightforward, her actual comicbook, and secondly her official, in-character in-universe twitter account, which is packed full of further explanations and goofy but ridiculous feats.

Seeing as this twitter account ran alongside the duration of her limited comic run, and is an integral part of her story in-comic, using it is actuall…

The 5th of November: V's Blitz

Now, the distance ran is the easy part: We can see that he went to one side, then to the far end, then to the opposite side, almost like running three bases in baseball. But how far is this?

Distance from V: 2arctan (tan (70/2) x (214/800)) = 21.22 degrees

Yet another DC DC feat (DC Comics Durability Feat)

Cassidy survives being thrown several metres into the air by an explosion last.

I'll take several as three, and Cassidy's weight as, dunno, 70 kilograms?

3*9.81*70 = 2060.1 Joules, Street level. Underwhelming.

Length of truck: 250 px, or, dunno, 5 metres?

Diametre of explosion: 294 px

Therefore the diametre of explosion is 5.88 metres.

Radius would be 2.94 metres.

Y = ((x/0.28)^3)/1000

Y is in megatons and x is in km.

((0.00294/0.28)^3)/1000 = 0.000000001157625 Megatons.

Converting that back into Joules that's 4 843 503. We have to divide it by two, for only 50% of energy is from the blast, and then multiple by 0.68 m^2, the surface area of a human being. The final tally is 1 646 791.02 Joules, or Wall level. An improvement and more reliable than th…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXKYdqIUHQI

This is the feat. Spoilers for Game of Thrones, obviously. And yes, just if you're curious this happens in the books as well. Seeing as he crushed the skull (didn't shear it) compressive strength would be used. Seeing as that is literally the amount of pressure you can apply before an object deforms/fractures.

Compressive Strength of Bone - 170 MPa

Weight of the Skull - 997 g

Density of Bone - 1.6 g/cm^3

997/1.6 = 623.125 cm^3

170 MPa*623.125 cm^3 = 105,931 J

Now just to be sure I'll do shear strength too, ok?

Shear Strength of Bone - 51.6 MPa

56.1 MPa*623.125 cm^3 = 34,960 J

DC Comics: Jonah Hex bullet-times

http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/14/142946/3401145-0352051626-33798.png

Description: Jonah Hex gets shot at and draws a sword before the bullets have made it to him, then slashes the shooters just as the bullets reach his location in the previous panel.

  • Jonah's head = 45px = 0.225425m (1/8 of his height,which is 5'11 according to the DC Wiki)
  • Panel height = 350px
  • 2atan(tan(70/2)*(45/350)) = 0.121687687 rad or 6.9721908838263 degrees.
  • Distance = 1.8502m

Now, let's angsize the bullet:

  • Distance =0.1662m

Rip off a person's head

Found this on Quora, what do you guys think?

https://www.quora.com/How-much-force-does-it-take-to-rip-off-a-persons-head-with-one-hand

If I grabbed someone by the neck using a rope which was tied to a rappel harness with 240 kg and I weigh 80 kg and jump 4 meters into water using a 3 meter rope length doubled overall, I believe this amount of weight on the line which goes taut at 3 meters will produce 9408 Newtons which is my calculation and hypothesis for the amount of force required to decapitate someone with one or two hands, considering you can hold on to your rappel line without difficulty with one hand and prepare for the snap. You should jump over water as the 240 kgs that is attached to your harness will need some where to go once th…

Flash: Explaining the Infinite Mass Punch

Hello everyone.

In this blog, I am going to break down the Flash's most powerful ability, the Infinite Mass Punch, and explains the mechanics of it and then calculate how powerful it really is. Shouldn't be too hard.

Firstly, here are scans of the Infinite Mass Punch:

The Four Scans may vary in the specifics of their explanations, but they all share one common element: Relativity. While The Flash, and indeed many other such as Superman and Green Lanterns constantly break the Laws of Relativity by moving at FTL speeds, the Infinite Mass Punch functions by working under the limitations of Relativity.

To quote the comics themselves:

So what exactly is happening in all these different comics? Well, the last page outright states it: Relativistic Mas…

Durability Required to be Completely Bulletproof

So this blog attempts to answer an interesting question: at what level do characters become completely immune to conventional bullets? Insofar as CL goes, this is not very useful because most weapons act far more powerful than they really should be and/or are magical, but it could be useful if comparing certain characters to real life statements.

Note that because this wiki considers durability to apply equally over the body, I will simply be using the surface area of a human body and comparing it to that of a bullet tip. However, it is entirely possible for certain points of the body to have lesser durability, such as the eyes, so keep that in mind as well.

The largest caliber round in the world is the 0.950 JDJ. This gives us a good high e…
