Character Level Wiki

"Life is locomotion... if you're not moving, you're not living. But there comes a time when you've got to stop running away from things... and you've got to start running towards something, you've got to forge ahead. Keep moving. Even if your path isn't lit... trust that you'll find your way." ― Barry Allen[1]

Summary

Barry Allen is The Flash, the fastest man alive. Using his super-speed powers, he taps into the Speed Force and becomes a costumed crime-fighter. His position is a legacy in the Flash Family, a successor to the original Jay Garrick, and predecessor to Wally West. He is a founding member of the Justice League of America.

Powers and Stats

Tier: Varies. At least 8-C when not enhancing speed. Up to 5-A normally. Possibly 3-A to High 3-A at exactly the Speed of Light. At least 2-C, possibly 2-A with the entire Speed Force

Name: Flash/Barry Allen

Origin: DC Comics

Gender: Male

Age: Probably in his 40s

Classification: Human

Powers and Abilities:

Attack Potency: Varies. At least Building level when not enhancing speed (Comparable to Wally). Up to Large Planet level normally (Following his return from the Speed Force, he should be comparable to Wally and Eobard). Possibly Universe level to High Universe level at exactly the Speed of Light (According to Brainiac 5, with the speed force breaking down and the laws of physics in play, a speedster traveling at light speed would become a singularity and rip open the universe[7]). At least Low Multiverse level, possibly Multiverse level+ with the entire Speed Force (Assisted Pandora in merging the New Earth, Wildstorm, and Vertigo universes.[8] Should be comparable to Bart Allen who volunteered to absorb the entire Speed Force so that he would be fast enough to stop Superboy-Prime[9])

Speed: Massively FTL+ Combat, Travel and Reaction speed (Faster than before. Can perceive events that last for less than an attosecond.[10] Far faster than the likes of Superman and the Green Lanterns). Immeasurable via running through time and the Speed Force.

Lifting Strength: At least Peak Human, possibly higher with the Speed Force

Striking Strength: Varies. At least Building Class when not enhancing speed Large Planet Class while running (Should be capable of a Relativistic Mass Punch comparable to Wally's). At least Low Multiversal, possibly Multiversal+ with the entire Speed Force

Durability: Varies. At least Building level when not enhancing speed (Comparable to Wally West and Eobard Thawne. He is consistently treated as far more vulnerable while not moving. Has been injured by bullets and blades). Up to Large Planet level normally. At least Low Multiverse level, possibly Multiverse level+ with the entire Speed Force

Stamina: Near Infinite (Comparable to Wally West)

Range: Standard Melee Range physically, higher with vortexes. At least Low Multiversal, possibly Multiversal with the entire Speed Force

Standard Equipment: None notable

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius (As smart as his Pre-Crisis era. A forensic scientist with great deductive skills, and constructed his Cosmic Treadmill[11])

Weaknesses: Can get easily overwhelmed, emotional, and depressed. Barry can also get cut off from the Speed Force.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Energy Construct Creation: Speed Force conduits can use the matter generated by their speed to create solid objects such as walls or bridges. This power requires constant concentration and reapplication of the construct for it to remain stable. Flash's afterimages are also created constructs.
  • Flight: Speed Force conduits can rotate their arms and spin their bodies like tops to achieve something of a kind of helicopter flight. However, with practice conduits can even achieve controllable flight if launched at high speeds. Despite their flight abilities, they are always faster on their feet.
  • Phasing: Speed Force conduits can vibrate their molecules so quickly that they can achieve intangibility for short bursts allowing them to phase through objects.
  • Sharing the Force: Speed Force conduits can allow their friends or family members to run alongside them at their equaled speeds. Certain conduits who may only have minor access to the Force may achieve full levels of the Force due to the main conduit's association with it.
  • Speed Force Aura: People who are propelled by the conduits during high-speed situations can survive the harsh conditions associated with mach speeds. When the conduit must rescue an individual from a burning building these individuals will be protected while within the aura.
  • Vortex Creations: Speed Force conduits that plant themselves on the ground and rotate their extremities can cause an incredible amount of wind to burst through their focused funnel. Most Speedsters use this ability automatically when they run, reducing the air currents around their body to low enough levels to no longer inhibit their speed. Creatively, Speedsters can create tornadoes and gusts with their arms.

Note:

  • While Barry Allen is the same individual from Pre-Crisis Earth-One, some abilities from that era have been phased out going into the Post-Crisis era with Wally becoming the new Flash.
  • Although many people refer to his technique as the Infinite Mass Punch, the name doesn't accurately depict the events that play out. While it is theoretically possible for Flash to attain Infinite Mass, Flash has not shown the qualities of having Infinite Mass in any of the instances he performed. While Wally should be capable of it like Jenni Ognats, it's unclear if Speedsters would survive the aftermath of becoming a singularity and ripping the universe due to the Speed Force breaking down around them.[12]
