Summary
Jormungand was the child of Loki and Angerboda. Although Jormungand was the size of a human infant at birth, Odin viewing the creature as a possible threat to the gods of Asgard banished the serpent to Midgard's, better known as Earth's, oceans. In Midgard, Jormungand thrived and grew large enough to encircle a planet, becoming the Midgard Serpent.
