Summary
Fritz von Meyer is a former Nazi scientist who escaped the aftermath of World War II by fleeing to Argentina like so many of his allies, where he spent his time researching the breeding patterns of local killer bees. In these studies, he discovered a breed of killer bees that knew no fear, were unusually passive, and highly intelligent, and created a device that he hoped would allow him to take control of them.
However, von Meyer's device backfired, causing the bees to attack him, swarming over his body and killing him, but his consciousness survived, seizing control of the bees and becoming spread throughout each one, becoming the aggregate supervillain Swarm.

The destruction of his skeleton will temporarily disable him, though he has eventually grown past this weakness, and his bees remain weak to insecticides. He is also dependent on the mutant queen bees in his swarm for cohesion.
